CREATEiNNOVATE 2016 is the third edition of Northern Film & Media’s high level industry mentoring and live project development programme that will support four film producer/writer-director teams to utilise technology to develop innovative creative and commercial approaches to the development of their feature film project.
Alongside the development programme we will also run a series of workshops open to any filmmakers interested in developing their cross-media skills. These sessions will cover a range of topics including marketing, branding, building audiences and distribution. The programme kicks off with a 3 day film ‘hack’ in March 2016 where ten Producer-Writer teams will workshop their feature film ideas in an interactive session with cross-media producers and techologists. This website will be a space for filmmakers on the programme to share their learning and experiences as they develop new ways to make, break and distribute their films. Course fees apply, more details can be found on the 'How to Apply' page.
This year CREATEiNNOVATE has developed a unique partnership with film distribution and marketing experts We Are The Tonic and the UK's largest rewards-based crowdfunding platform Crowdfunder. Two CREATEiNNOVATE projects will be selected from the programme to benefit from these companies expertise via their newly established programme The FilmCrowd.
The FilmCrowd, is an new innovative programme for filmmakers – over a 9 month period The FilmCrowd team will work with 2 feature filmmakers selected from CreateInnovate to provide practical and tailored crowdfunding and distribution expertise on their projects. This mentoring will support the filmmakers throughout the process of fundraising for distribution right through to the release of their film.
