To apply for an NFM Academy Trainee Placement, please read all the eligibilty criteria below prior to making an application. 

Once we have received your application, we will identify candidates from across the grades, from the construction shop to the production office, camera to sound and lighting, art department and location management. We will work with productions to find the ‘best fit’ candidates for the available roles.

What is a trainee?

A trainee is someone looking to develop their career in film and TV. This could be an entry level position, stepping up to the next grade or moving across from another discipline e.g. factual to drama. For some productions trainees will qualify for a training allowance via Creative Skillset and other productions will pay. All details of remuneration will be given to you by the Northern Film & Media team.

To be considered as a trainee you:

  • Must be aged 18 or over
  • Must have a North East base
  • Must be available to work as a trainee
  • Must have attended an NFM Academy Bootcamp
  • Must not be in education or training and must be available to take up a trainee position.

Not eligible to become a trainee? You may be eligible to apply for a work experience placement. 

Work Experience Placements

To be considered for work experience you:

  • Must have a north east base
  • Must be 2nd/3rd year University or not in education
  • Must have attended an NFM Academy Bootcamp
