Supported by Creative Skillset, NFM Academy Plus which aims to help those with a little experience gain an understanding the various departments within a production. A range of events will explore Make up, Production Office, Art Department, Costume and AD Department and the career opportunities in each.

Ever wondered what skills a make up artist needs to work in Film and TV? Head of Make Up from ITV’s Emmerdale, Jessica Taylor will explain how the make up department works covering the role of a make up artist, the importance of continuity, what skills are required and how to get that job. 

Jessica Taylor is currently head of make up at ITV/Emmerdale. Previously to joining ITV she worked as a freelance make up designer for 15 years working on numerous TV dramas for all the major channels including Happy Valley, Last Tango, Life on Mars, Cracker and Cutting IT. She has also worked on programmes such as The Royal Variety Performance, Britain’s Got Talent, Soapstar Superstar, Coronation Street, Prime Suspect. She has won the Royal Television Society for Best Hair/Make up Design for her work on Cutting IT. Jessica trained at ITV Manchester and worked there for 6 years before embarking on a freelance career.

Eligibility:

Please note that this class is for North East early career industry professionals. To take part in this class you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. You must have a minimum of 1 paid credit gained in a film, TV or a commercials production environment, working as a trainee or above, and for a duration of at least 1 week.

2. You must be based in the North East of England (County Durham, Northumberland, Teesside or Tyne and Wear).
