Cecilia Stenbom, originally from Sweden, studied at Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki and at Glasgow School of Art. Cecilia's work are exhibited in gallery as well as cinema contexts, in recent years her practice has gradually moved towards narrative filmmaking.

Recent film projects includes: How To Choose (2012) part of The Artist Cut commissioned by Northern Film & Media, The Case (2013) commissioned for Berwick Film and Media Art Festival, SYSTEM (2014) developed through Peacock Visual Arts, Aberdeen and InWaiting (2014) commissioned by Creative England part inaugural iShorts scheme. Recent festival exposure includes: International Film Festival Rotterdam, Tampere Short Film Festival, Aesthetica Short Film Festival, London Short Film Festival and Glasgow Short Film Festival. Recent solo exhibitions includes: The List (2014), solo project at BALTIC39, Everyday Collateral (2014) Workplace Gallery, Gateshead and Nobody Gets Out of Here Alive (2013) Kaapelin Galleria, Helsinki. Cecilia is represented by Workplace Gallery (Gateshead/London) and AV-arkki (Helsinki).

“I am interested in exploring the subconscious things we do to deal with relationships; the unspoken rules, subtle cultural nuances and the invisible protocols we adhere to. Capturing the inner decision making process, our motivations and fears, that ultimately control us.“
